SDJ Church Reaction to the DFF

Speaking from the steps of the Church Administration Building President Gordon B. Hinckley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expressed concern over recent events.

“While these people were at one time members of our Church, they now are not, nor have they been for several generations. Years ago President Brigham Young sent their ancestors to colonize the valleys and to mine the mountains of Northern Deseret. When the government of Alta California requested that we vacate the lands that they claimed, our church’s fourth president, Wilford Woodruff agreed to their request and sent to our peoples in the area, requesting they return to live in Louisianne.

“Some returned, many refused, and with the end of polygamy, many of them left the church. We do not accept their claim to be members of this church. While the Deseret Freedom Fighters may be descended of former church members, they are not of us. We abhor their acts.”

In related news, the council has begun a stricter border patrol and is observing carefully those who have shown themselves prone to sympathy with the DFF.
